Elon Musk upon owning Twitter, On Thursday, told his employees at Twitter that the company’s office buildings will be temporarily closed.

Workers were further notified that the company would be reopened on 21 November, Monday.

In a fresh update on the Twitter’s ongoing controversy related to hirings and firings, Twitter’s new owner Elon Musk gave his employees an ultimatum: Either Stay with the company working long hours at high intensity with an extremely hardcore work culture to build Twitter 2.0 or Quit.

Musk clearly addressed his employees through an email that either they must be willing to work for long hours or quit with a resignation with three months severance pay in hand.

On Thursday, After Musk’s Midnight email, many Twitter employees have reportedly tendered their resignations.

It’s a fresh blow for Musk that a wave of resignations has come days after he laid off half of the company’s workforce immediately after taking control of the social media giant in a $44 billion deal. As per Musk’s tweets, he apologized to a few employees whom he had fired in anguish as they were inciting mass resignations from the back stage and publicly through tweets as well. He asked them to return back, rehired them and posted photos with them on Twitter. He considers that right people and core talent must be retained and brought back if left, in order to build the platform he envisaged.

Elon Musk and his team of advisors held meetings with a few employees who were trapped in some ambiguity on their decision to stay or quit.

Twitter however, seems to be making all efforts to retain key employees in the operations department, specially the ones who are deemed critical.

Musk further clarified that all Twitter employees must visit the offices for work at least 40 hours a week and that their immediate managers should ensure their availability and responsible for their contribution in work.

Twitter’s internal communication channels filled with the new round of departures means the platform is continuing to lose workers.

Many employees took the decision to quit and said their final goodbyes on Slack to each other.
