Namma Metro Bengaluru : After a long await, Whitefield Metro is finally on tracks. The trial of 7.5km stretch between Whitefield and Garudacharpalya on the Purple Line of Namma Metro in Bengaluru was carried out by the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) on October 21.

The BMRCL began work on this stretch, where 13 stations have come up, in 2016-17.  Once the entire Purple Line is operational, people would be able to travel from Kengeri located in western part of the city to Whitefield in the east of the city. BMRCL is expected to test the signalling system by operating trains along the route every day. According to the latest updates, the Whitefield-Garudacharpalya section will be operational by February 2023.

The Continuation of Purple line Namma metro stations on the Whitefield-KR Puram Metro section are Whitefield, Channasandra, Kadugodi, Pattandur Agrahara, Sadaramangala, Nallurhalli, Kundalahalli, Seetharampalya, Hoodi Junction, Gurudacharpalya, Saraswati Nagar (Mahadevapura), and KR Puram.

This new project by BMRCL is giving hope to lakhs of residents of the area as well as those who work here will really be benefited from this new metro connectivity. While the entire 15km Byappanahalli-Whitefield section was supposed to be ready by 2020-end, it missed multiple deadlines due to many reasons and one among it was Covid-19, which we all know this became a major reason to cutoff many projects

BMRCL managing director Anjum Parwez and other senior officials performed puja on Friday. BMRCL operated a six-car train in a easy way to check the schedule of dimensions, distance between the centre of the track and the nearest structure, along the route in which train runs and to make sure that there are no structural obstructions.

BMRCL was much appreciated by the people for this new trial run through Whitefield. It was for the first time, digital tools were used to assess the alignment of parallel tracks.
