Edtech Unicorn PhysicsWallah Acquires Two Edtech Startups.
India’s 1st profitable edtech Unicorn PhysicsWallah acquires two edtech startups, PrepOnline and Altis Vortex.
PrepOnline is an online learning platform for NEET and other state-level government exams, while Altis Vortex is a publisher of exam preparation books.
PhysicsWallah popularly known as PW is an online education venture which prepares students for engineering and medical entrance exams. With a valuation of around $1.1 billion, this edtech company is the latest entrant in the Unicorn club.
The founder and CEO, Alakh Pandey started PhysicsWallah as a Youtube channel in 2014. This 8-year-old startup became a billion-dollar valued company after raising a $100 million round from WestBridge and GSV ventures in June 2022.
Recently this year, the company also entered into offline learning classes with the launch of its center PW Vidyapeeth in Kota, Rajasthan. This edtech Unicorn provides the most affordable and engaging educational content which students find comfortable.
PhysicsWallah acquires two edtech startups, PrepOnline and AltisVortex to enhance its teaching structure, and provide a variety of content related to multiple fields. The founders of PrepOnline and Altis Vortex are Vivek Gaur and Manish Kumar, started in 2019 and 2015, respectively.
The acquisition of PrepOnline will benefit PhysicsWallah in terms of improving the teaching infrastructure. It will also support in delivering extraordinary content related to the NEET category.
As per the terms, Vivek Gaur will be handed responsibility as the Chief growth officer of PhysicsWallah.
PhysicsWallah also runs a business vertical comprising books and study materials. With the acquisition of Altis Vortex, PhysicsWallah will be able to bolster its content side and deliver more engaging book titles and study materials for students. Manish Kumar will join PhysicsWallah as Chief of Projects.
This acquisition is the company’s third in number as it has already acquired doubt-solving Edtech company FreeCo. The Unicorn startup also aims to expand its space and offerings among students in India.
