VoIP calling comes to Facebook’s Messenger app for Windows 10, finally!

Ever since Facebook launched the Messenger app for Windows 10 in April, many of us have been patiently waiting for the company to integrate VoIP and video calling into the service. Until now, we had to switch to a browser and log on to the Facebook website in order to make calls to our friends and acquaintances. Thankfully, the company started rolling out a new update for the Messenger app which brings in the calling functionality.
Facebook Messenger’s calling feature is completely mind-blowing, to be completely honest. The network is amazingly stable, as long as you have a good internet connection and dropped calls are a myth. Even video calling offers an almost seamless experience. The feature was limited to Android, iOS and the browser iterations of the service, however.
The Messenger app is one of the most stable Windows 10 apps. It’s actually quite surprising how long Facebook took to actually port the calling features into this app.
Now, when you open up a chat on Messenger for Windows 10, you’ll see a familiar icon in the top right corner of the screen that glows green if the other person is active. Just tap that to jump into a voice/video conversation with them.
Unfortunately though, the Windows 10 version of the service hasn’t yet gotten options to set a reminder or send a message to the other person when a call is coming in. An incoming call shows up on your desktop, however.
The features are working fine (I tested them myself). But there are still a handful of other important additions that Facebook still has to integrate. Hopefully, the social networking giant will bring in the other important features into the app by the next update.
