Vikram-S by Skyroot Aerospace, India’s first privately designed rocket, will launch on November 15, 2022.

The space vehicle will be launched from the Indian Space Research Organization’s (ISRO’s)  launch pad located at Sriharikota.

As per reports the company is set to launch the rocket on a sub-orbital mission called Prarambh, which will carry three payloads.

The rocket launch is scheduled for 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday. Mr. Pawan Kumar Chandana, CEO of Skyroot Aerospace as stated to the Press Trust of India.

Two out of three payloads belong to Indian customers, and one to foreign customers.

Company to Send the Payload on the Rocket

A payload weighing 2.5 kg will be sent by Spacekidz, a Chennai-based aerospace startup.

The payload has been designed by students from India and other countries like the USA, Indonesia and Singapore.

The Vikram-S will also launch a “Fun-Sat” into space with a payload designed by the students.

The spacecraft was named Vikram-S in the honor of scientist Vikram Sarabhai who founded the Indian Space Research Organization.

Objective of the Mission

With this maiden mission, Skyroot Aerospace has the potential to become India’s first space company to launch privately designed rockets into space.

The company is set to become India’s first to launch private space vehicles, ushering in a new era for space sectors that will encourage private companies to conduct spaceflights by 2020.

The company has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with ISRO to launch rockets designed by them into space.

As per the company’s statement, the main aim of the company is to provide cost-efficient space vehicle launch services by making advances in making reliable and affordable spaceflights regular for all.

About the Company

The space company Skyroot Aerospace was set up in 2018 by Mr. Pawan Kumar Chandana, based in Hyderabad, India.

The company has used three-dimensional printing and advanced composite technologies for rocket launches.

The space company was able to secure 51 million US dollars in September 2022 in the Series B funding round.
