Online services marketplace Housejoy raises about $3.24 Mn led by Matrix Partners India


Housejoy is a website and app that people can use to find service providers for work in their homes, ranging from repair and cleaning to personal services like laundry and beautician services.

Housejoy is owned by Bengaluru-based Sarvaloka Services On-Call Private Ltd. It has raised about $3.24 Mn in a bridge fundixng round led by existing investor Matrix Partners India, as per RoC filings.

The latest round comes nearly three years after the company last raised capital. 

In the fresh round, Matrix has invested $1.34 million while Vertex Ventures, RTP Ventures, Qualcomm Ventures, Sama Capital put in about $1.58 million along with serial entrepreneur and promoter of the company Ganesh Krishnan who has invested Rs 2.35 crore in a personal capacity. The startup has so far raised $30 million.

Earlier this year, the company laid off around 40 employees across departments to check spiralling cost structures. Amazon, which invested in Housejoy in 2015 in its Series B round, did not participate in the current round.

Housejoy competes with Mumbai based UrbanClap which was last valued at $450 million when it raised a $50 million Series D round led by Steadview Capital in November this year.
