Zomato acquires Sparse Labs to give restaurants and customers realtime delivery tracking data

Sparse Labs is a Gurgaon-based logistics tech startup founded by Pankaj Batra specializing in helping restaurants track delivery drivers, show customers where their order is in real time and allocate orders to the most suitable delivery person based on location.
Sparse Labs android based application include web dashboard, driver apps, customer notifications, API, maps and more. The application will help the customer and the restaurant to track the delivery boy in real time. The delivery boy can use the app for route information. Also it has built a GPS tracker which can be fitted to bikes and will help the restaurant to see where the rider is.
Zomato is a restaurant search and discovery service founded in 2008 by Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah. It currently operates in 23 countries, including India, Australia and the United States, serving up information such as menus, photos, and locations, with users able to submit reviews and ratings.
Zomato acquired Sparse Labs as it wants to improve delivery experience. Zomato founder and CEO Deepinder Goyal, in a blog post explained,…

At the restaurant end, this technology will help make deliveries highly cost- and time-efficient, allowing them to optimize delivery routes and ensuring minimal wait time for riders,” he added.
The company said that Sparse Labs will be renamed as Zomato Trace and will give service free of cost to the restaurant partners very soon.
