As reported by CNBC, Twitter is moving closer to a sale as it received expressions of interest from several technology and media companies. Twitter may receive a formal bid as it is in conversation with potential suitors which includes Google and Salesforce.com among other technology companies.
Suitors are said to be interested in the data the company generates from its 313 million active users.Twitter's board of directors is said to be largely desirous of a deal, but no sale is imminent, as reported by CNBC.
There's no assurance a deal will be inked, but one source close to the conversations said that they are picking up momentum and could result in a deal before year-end.
Twitter revenue has fallen in the two years since CEO Jack Dorsey took the helm, though they have put new efforts like social video.
