What is StarClinch?
StarClinch is an online marketplace of artists that connects talent buyers with artists across India, thus bringing a drastic advancement in the entertainment industry. Launched in January 2015, it is the brainchild of Varun Agrawal, a post graduate from FORE School of Management, who has worked with ICICI Bank for three years as an Investment Banker.
StarClinch is basically an amalgamation of IT industry and entertainment industry, giving the masses a secure platform to indulge in selecting the right artist as per their event-type, location and budget. To cut it short, the website brings together B2B (artists) and B2C (talent-buyer) clients to execute a smooth flow of artist-booking without the intervention of any middlemen. An artist wants nothing but appreciation and reasonable payment and, on the other hand, a talent seeker wants their event to be executed successfully in terms of entertainment. Also, it becomes a sad state of affairs when they get disappointed by the services of the artist they have paid for. StarClinch acts as a moderator and coordinator between the two parties, thereby looking after their needs and satisfying both of them. The website has now launched its minimized version on the Android OS and Apple iOS platform, which is light-sized and lightning fast.
The website features 9500+ artists spread across 14 categories and 100+ subcategories, which can be further sorted using filters like event-type, location and price-range. Every registered artist get a personalized page and URL, which can be used as an online, one-page resume for client consideration during business propositions.
Office Setup and Location
The organization is presently based out of Green Park, New Delhi, and consists of 30+ employees spread across departments like Artist-Relations, Client Relations, Content, Digital Marketing, and IT (Information Technology). Raghu, Rajiv and Ranvijay – the famous trio from the youth reality show MTV Roadies – are the stakeholders of the company. StarClinch aims further at establishing their offices in the metropolitans of India, soon.
In Delhi/NCR, StarClinch has been regularly working with top 60 restaurants daily and with 40 outlets weekly. Out of 9500+ artists, more than 1800 have been engaged, amounting to 1100+ bookings and INR 2.14 cr of business so far.
The website receives 40 artist registrations per day and more than 250 artists are currently subscribed to the premium yearly plans. Apart from the capital city, the company has, as of now, received bookings from cities like Chandigarh, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Mumbai, Patna, Bhopal, and Bangalore.
Although the registration is free, StarClinch further sells three subscription plans for the registered artists – ‘Have Patience?’, ‘Get Discovered.’, and ‘Instant Gigs!’. Apart from this, the company also charges a service fee from the artist for each booking made and – in the case of subscribed artists – service fee is charged after the completion of certain deliverables.

The total market size of the entertainment industry estimated by StarClinch is USD 10 bn. This involves ever-growing sectors like restaurants and pubs, weddings, private occasions, musical events, college events, religious functions, and other miscellaneous affairs. According to the company, the largest market share in the industry is owned by private occasions (34%), followed by weddings (33%), restaurants (9%), religious functions (8%), musical concerts (8%), college festivals (5%), and others (3%).
