Personal mobile assistant app Mihup raises $6.7 mn funding from Accel Partners

AI enabled personal chat based assistant app Mihup has secured $6.7 million in Series A funding round from Accel Partners.

The funds will be used to develop the software and hardware of Mihup’s speech recognition system and man-machine interface.

Mihup co-founder Tapan Burman told that Accel is picking up close to 20% stake in the company and investing over $ 6.7 mn.  Accel is one of the investors of Facebook, Flipkart, Ola, Dropbox and netspoke. Incepted in California in 1983, Accel with its $8.8billion portfolio is one of the largest investors in startups globally along with Sequoia Capital.

Mihup was launched at beta stage in 2014 by engineering professionals Tapan Barman, Biplab Chakraborty and Sandipan Mandal, and provides information on travel, sports, news, entertainment restaurants and more.

Stayzilla’s chief technology officer and former chief data scientist at Twitter Pankaj Gupta has also picked up 0.99% stake in the company.
