PAYTM introduces Hindi platform to boost customer database.
Paytm has currently launched the new interface for Hindi language in its app. This new initiative has been made as an attempt to increase the sale base in tier-II and tier-III cities. Also, this will prove to improve and shoot up the marketplace for online-to-offline business for transporting appliances and electronics in the cities that it is currently based in; which include the metros, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Surat and many others, a total of ten cities.
This new launch of the Hindi interface has increased the usage of the app and the time of engagement by normal and active users. The sellers and other users can make use of data related to the performance in their local language.
Vice-President of Business at Paytm, Sudhanshu Gupta says that the sellers, who are usually interested and concentrate on dealing with limitless categories like fashion, lifestyle and home products; prefer to search and deal with them if the products are listed and described in their local language. These sellers have also stated this demand in seller meetings. He also states that the increase in number of sellers in the age group of 20-30 in the cities of Rourkela and Hubli, to name a few, was a result of this initiative and introducing their corresponding local languages would encourage the usage of such sellers.
This edge to increase seller base has revealed the introduction of many such initiatives in the e-commerce platform. In addition, this launch has been working on par with increasing the number of sellers to 5 lakh by the end of this business year. The company is currently said to have 1.5 lakh sellers on board while its rival, Snapdeal, accounts nearly 2.5 lakh sellers and Flipkart has a total of about 85 thousand merchants in its bag.
