Facebook has picked ‘Flikster: Movies & Fashion’ for its early-stage startup mentorship program FbStart. The startup will receive credits worth $40,000 and free tools and services from Facebook and its more than 30 partners including Amazon, UserTesting and MailChimp.
It has also got an opportunity to connect directly with the Facebook team and enroll into the social media giant’s exclusive community of global startups that include Adobe, Dropbox and Salesforce.
Flikster is a startup that took off five months ago with the efforts of alumni from IITs. Flikster’s CEO, Jazzy Ravindra, is an IIT Bombay alumnus who started it with the idea of providing a one stop solution for all movie and fashion trends. Flikster app provides latest movies and celebrity news from Bollywood, Tollywood, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam film industries, gives reviews of the latest movies instantly.
Users can rate their favorite movies and follow their favorite celebrities, movie news. The unique feature of the Flikster app is that it not only shows latest trends and fashions that are popular at the moment but also provides users a platform to buy celebrity clothing, products and accessories.
Flikster will customize news feed for individual user soon. It is also going to upgrade to 3.0 version with Celebrity Wardrobe and Auction features.
Flikster app is available for both Android and iOS users. Within one month of its release, the app has garnered more than 5000 downloads. The app is freely available on the Google Play Store and the iTunes App Store.
