MobiKwik-IRCTC shake hands, to allow wallet based ticket booking

MobiKwik-IRCTC shake hands, to allow wallet based ticket booking.

MobiKwik, a leading independent mobile payments network, will be the first payment option on the Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation’s mobile application. The pact will enable MobiKwik users to book railway tickets in a convenient and secure manner from their smartphones.

With 25,000 to 30,000 tickets booked daily through IRCTC’s Android app, MobiKwik expects to boost online ticket sales, thanks to the ease of mobile wallet usage for payments.

The MobiKwik mobile payment solution will allow instant one-tap payments for ticket bookings placed through the mobile app. MobiKwik also plans to extend this to IRCTC’s other digital platforms.

MobiKwik founder and CEO Bipin Preet Singh said as a mobile wallet partner MobiKwik is integrated with IRCTC’s Connect app. “Users can experience super-fast, express payments and book all rail tickets in a flash,” he said.

MobiKwik’s wallet, with its simple and high-security features, is expected to boost pan-India booking of rail tickets via IRCTC’s mobile app, MobiKwik said in a statement Tuesday .

By partnering with IRCTC, which drives the largest number of digital transactions in the country, MobiKwik is “giving a thrust to the government’s mandate of boosting wider adoption of digital money in India”, said Singh.

Crossing online sales of $3 billion for the year to March 2015, IRCTC became the largest e-commerce platform in the country. It owes bulk of its sales to the rapid growth in digital transactions owing to IRCTC’s strong user interface and a robust process system.

According to Singh, when retailers integrate MobiKwik’s wallet interface, users get to make the payment from within the retailer’s platform and no redirection to MobiKwik is required. “This allows ease of payments where transaction failure is nearly non-existent,” he said.
