Flipkart to now rank sellers in order to enhance customer experience

Flipkart will rate its merchants in gold, silver and bronze categories to help customers choose the best seller

Enhancing customer experience has been the key objective of Flipkart’s CEO Binny Bansal in order to pip rival Amazon and lead the market. The Bengaluru-based e-commerce giant will now be ranking its sellers in gold, silver and bronze categories to enhance the customer experience. Apart from this, the company will also provide added incentives like discounts on shipping charges, quick payment, promotions and preferred sellers support.

Flipkart will rank its merchants based on the amount of sales their products make on its platform. This decision is looked upon as a way to improve the shopping experience of its customers. It will further result in a good business growth. The rankings will help customers choose the right seller based on the quality of the product, number of returns/cancellations and complaints.

According to Anil Goteti, head of marketplace, Flipkart, the objective of the company will be to make the performance of the sellers transparent and will let them measure their performance. In return, the best ranked sellers will be offered good visibility on the website, quicker payments and up to 20 percent shipping discount for gold-rated merchants. The company has replaced its Flipkart Advance facility with Flipkart Assured service. The former facility required the sellers to just provide the goods while the packing, shipment and stocking is taken care of by the marketplace. The recent Flipkart Assured facility on the other hand aims at improving delivery and a strict control over the quality of the products.

The feature will be rolled out on November 23 which will rate sellers on quarterly basis.
