Bengaluru gets its first vertical garden setup by SayTrees, all set to fight pollution with many such gardens
The vertical garden recently setup in Bengaluru is making the city look all the more beautiful. The first vertical garden is adorned with over 3500 plants of 10 different species. The garden is an initiative of SayTrees and its setup at the Hosur Road Electronics City Flyover.
SayTrees is an NGO having ordinary citizens as its members who are determined to protect nature. According to the group, the government was not involved in installing the gardens but necessary permissions were taken from respective authorities to implement this project.
The initiative aims at decreasing the growing pollution levels and beautifying the city. The vertical garden is designed in such a way that a pillar of the flyover is covered with the garden flaunting lovely saplings that are organic and refreshing. Each side of the vertical garden is different from the other. The garden has an automatic drip irrigation system allowing the plants to get 100 milliliters of water on a daily basis.
SayTrees plans to cover all the pillars of the flyover with such gardens soon. According to the organization, this biodiversity has numerous benefits. Apart from purifying the air and reducing urban heat, the gardens will act as a sound proofing barrier. They will aid in reducing unwanted heat and smog at the same time creating a healthy habitat for insects and birds.
The world’s first vertical gardens were setup in China which grabbed a lot of attention on social media.
