For some companies it might be a lean time, but that isn’t stopping them from partying. Silicon Valley is all buzzing with the charm of festive season.
Here’s one: Masonic music venue, San Francisco was rented by Dropbox to throw a live music show for its employees by St. Lucia. On the other side, Yahoo! Which is facing a potential proxy fight held an extravagant twenties-themed party. Twitter who had to cut its staff this year, had put up a DJ stand on AT&T Park.
Fancy holiday parties are trending in Silicon Valley. Saar Gur, Partner at Charles River Ventures said that the companies don’t want to divert attention towards their parties, since they seem like an unnecessary waste of funds.

Google – Under the Sea
Every summer, the tech giant throws an annual retreat for its employees in Nevada Desert. That doesn’t mean they can’t have an off-season party. Google had a “under the sea-themed party with a jellyfish electro garden and neon-costumed dancers.
Facebook – the most cinematic one
The social media giant threw a 1920s-themed party which had a trapeze swing performance similar to one in Moulin Rouge by Nicole Kidman.
Yahoo! – roaring twenties
Yahoo! had it all – aerial dancers, chandeliers and Champagne towers! The party was pretty much spectacular, despite the pressure mounting on the company. Marissa Mayer put on a smiling face with employees crowded around here for photos.
Uber – party with the best-dressed dog
Party at Uber witnessed CEO Travis Kalanick and his Golden Doodle ‘Yobu’ wearing matching tuxedos.
Lyft – Star Wars - #maythefrostbewithyou
We are sure you got the hashtag! Uber’s rival Lyft went for Star Wars-themed party and the tech geeks couldn’t resist themselves taking photos with Stormtroopers, BB-8 and of course Master Yoda!
Dropbox – one with the palatable gambling
Gambling for charity sounds palatable and so Dropbox had craps tables at its party.
Zynga – where the wealthiest bartender served
CEO of the company Mark Pincus was the bartender at the party and served drinks to his employees.
Salesforce – Aquatic or Patriotic?
Salesforce also held its party at Masonic music venue and had people on stilts. One of them looked like a mermaid or statue of liberty. We couldn’t tell!
Airbnb – extra pretty
The company called in a calligraphy professional to make an extra pretty chalkboard menu at its party and also served artisan donuts!
